Tom Pidcock returned to podium in today's stage of Tirreno-Adriatico. The Q36.5 Pro Cycling rider didn't waste too much energy on the decisive climb of the day amd instead saved his matches for the reduced sprint in Foligno.

Before that riders had to complete a grueling journey through cold and rain: "It was definitely a day to remember with almost seven hours in the rain. Then it becomes a day where it’s a lot about survival," Pidcock said of the course of today's stage.

Thanks to his teammates, Pidcock always had a VIP seat at the front of the group. "The guys did a really great job in getting me in the right position for that final climb. It was a bit more of a race up there than I thought."

Filippo Ganna and Mathieu van der Poel tried to light up the race as reduced peloton neared the top of HC category climb Valico di Colfiorito, however everything came together at last moment for a 50-headed sprint were Pidcock came second, losing only to Andrea Vendrame. "In the sprint, I found an opening, but I was a little far back. In the end, it’s a nice second place, and I take some bonus seconds too," Pidcock concluded.
