Back from injuries suffered at Tour of Flanders, Tim Wellens is ready for the second part of the season. The Belgian rider of UAE Emirates is currently competing in the Tour of Poland, his second race since his return.
"I'm doing very well, I'm glad I'm back in competition," the Belgian started the interview with WielerFlits. "I am happy about my legs. I was able to train for a very long time. After the Tour of Slovenia I stayed in Monaco for a long time to train well. There I have built a nice basis to ride a nice end of the season."
Wellens crashed heavily in the Tour of Flanders and therefore had to rehabilitate for a long time. How did that process go? "It was annoying that I had to come back from a long way. Rehabilitation is never fun, because you really have to start from scratch. On the other hand, I don't mind just having to train for a long time, because that way you can feel that you are getting better."
After Tour de Pologne, Wellens will ride a lot of races. For example, he will ride the Renewi Tour and the Belgian puncheur will also compete in the Gree-Tour of Guangxi. "I don't mind riding so many races. I will not ride the European Championship, I prefer to focus on competitions with the team."
