Thomas Voeckler on Paris-Nice : "It remains very prestigious to win, It's a moment of truth"

Paris-Nice offers a complete package with its captivating route, prestigious participants, and an impressive 80-year legacy. The inclusion of renowned cyclists such as Tadej Pogcar and Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard adds an extra layer of excitement and makes it a must-watch event.

Thomas Voeckler, who works as a consultant for France Televisions and also serves as the coach for the French team, shared his analysis of the 2023 race. "It's the first big race of the season. Ten or fifteen years ago, Paris-Nice had less at stake. But today, with the globalisation of the sport, every race has its importance,” he told TeleStar.

Additionally, he remarked on the participation of Pogacar and Vingegaard, expressing excitement for the opportunity to see another showdown between the two cyclists. "And when you know that the first and the second of the 2022 Tour de France are present, it is even more important.”

Additionally, since the race includes all of the major teams and their top riders, it serves as an opportunity for riders to gauge their current form against others and evaluate the results of their preparation. “In addition, this race has a historical aspect. It is very prestigious to win it. We can't wait to see it happen, but we know we can't miss it. Until Paris-Nice, you can say that you are preparing yourself but once you are there, it is a moment of truth", concluded Voeckler.
