Jenthe Biermans was a very happy rider in the post interview after winning Muscat Classic race. The Arkéa-Samsic rider who formerly raced for Israel-Premier Tech stated that the confidence his new team gives in him was important for his win and good start of the season.
"I said beforehand that this is my race and the whole team worked hard for me. I earned that confidence after the second part of last year. This team fully believes in me. First there was my second place in the Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana (behind Arnaud De Lie, ed.) and now my first victory. It's fantastic", Biermans stated.
The race was a tricky one with a good amount of ups and downs, specially with Al Jissah climb (1,1 km at 9.3%) around 4km to the finish that was attacked by the riders who didn't have enough sprint power for a group sprint win.
"I had two more men with me on the climb, with Michel Ries and Anthony Delaplace. We had initially ridden away with 25 men and I was among them. Eventually Ries and Delaplace were with me on the last climb, after which Anthony did the perfect lead-out. I was in Jordi Warlop's wheel, but we got locked in. Then the pace dropped, and I had enough left for a 200-metre sprint. No one came across in the end", Biermans concluded.
