"This one means a lot to me" - After 5 years dry, Red Bull - BORA turn its new sprinter into a winner in 1 day

The last time Arne Marit took a victory was in a non-UCI event back in 2022, but his only pro win before today at come at the 21 GP du Morbihan. In his three years with Intermarché - Wanty, the Belgian sprinter did not manage to win one time. In his first race day with Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe, he has won the final race of the Challenge Mallorca.

"It was a perfect race for us. The beginning was calm, but we knew the key point was the U-turn with 2.4 kilometers to go," team DS Pello Olaberria said in a press release. "The boys positioned themselves exactly as planned, and Arne finished it off in an incredible way. To have Alessio [Magnanotti] third as well is just outstanding. It’s the perfect way to close such a successful week".

The Trofeo Palma provided the sprinters with their only opportunity throughout the week of racing in Mallorca and Marit continued Red Bull's winning streak in the event. After the team won the team time trial and Remco Evenepoel won both Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana and Trofeo Andratx, it was time for Marit to also leave his mark in the race. In a chaotic sprint, he followed the wheel of Ivan García Cortina who launched an early sprint in Palma de Mallorca, and then launched his own move to the line with perfect timing in order to take the biggest win of his career.

"The crash in the final corner changed the situation completely, so I made a quick decision to go all in and from 300 metres out it was full gas," Marit added. "To end the week with four wins in five races is amazing for the whole team. Personally, after three years without a victory (Marit won races in 2022, but they were not UCI events, ed.), this one means a lot to me. And finishing with Alessio on the podium as well is special – he’s a young rider with huge talent".
