Remco Evenepoel has already announced his intentions to target the Giro d'Italia in 2023. Although it has several reasons, one is definitely the amount of time-trialing kilometers which will favour the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team rider.
"I'm looking forward to the 3 time trials and the final week. I'm really looking forward to the 3 time trials. Last week I explored the 2nd time trial (stage 9, ed.). They are all great time trials that should suit me," Evenepoel said in an Instagram live.
The Corsa Rosa will start with a time-trial in Ortona, and will feature ITT's on stages 9 and 20, totaling to around 70 kilometers of racing against the clock - significant days, all of them. Evenepoel has recently travelled to Italy to do a recon of several stages in central Italy, including the 9th stage from Savignano sul Rubicone to Cesena which has 33.6 kilometers in distance.
Evenepoel will have a preparation revolving around stage-races ahead of the Giro. He will start his season in Argentina with the Vuelta a San Juan, and is expected to race both the UAE Tour and the Volta a Catalunya in preparation for the Giro.
