After global drinks powerhouse Red Bull came into the fold at BORA - hansgrohe midway through the 2024 season, 2025 marks the first full season for the team. The effects are already starting to be felt too, following a busy transfer window that saw 9 incoming transfers, including Jan Tratnik from Team Visma | Lease a Bike.

Although Tratnik hasn't been with Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe long, the Slovenian already sees the wheel turning in the team's project to become peloton leaders. “I think everything is still in progress. But I see many, many people who are really interested that we will be even better than Visma,” Tratnik explains in conversation with Velo. “There are so many people that will try to do the best from all areas, so from materials, from nutrition, from training, everything. We will do even more than the other teams.”

“I really see this process,” the experienced 34-year-old Slovenian continues. “You cannot do this overnight. It will take some time. But what I see here, it’s that people are really working hard every day. I like that because I also try to help. I try to share my experience and suggest what we could do even better. There’s a lot of energy going into it, more than there was at Visma.”

Although Tratnik's spell at Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe is just beginning, Irish talent Ryan Mullen is entering his fourth season at the team in 2025. As such, the 30-year-old is perhaps better placed to speak on the changes within the set up since the emergence of Red Bull.

“It just feels a bit bigger and better and busier than previous years. There’s a lot more going on, a lot more stuff here, a lot more attention to detail. And obviously the presence of Red Bull. It’s just on a whole different scale. It’s really exciting," Mullen adds, also to Velo.
