The Tour de France yellow jersey changes in 2027 - New supplier set to restore iconic cycling link
Cycling
The Tour de France yellow jersey will regain an image tied to one of the most memorable eras in Spanish cycling in 2027. Castelli will once again supply the most iconic jersey in the French race, replacing Santini and reviving an association that once featured Miguel Indurain.
The Italian brand supplied Indurain’s kit for four of his five consecutive Tour victories. More than three decades after its last stint as the leader’s jersey supplier, Castelli will once again dress the race leader.
The change will also extend across the rest of the calendar. Castelli will supply the leader’s jersey for the Tour and La Vuelta, while continuing to provide the Giro d’Italia’s maglia rosa. The Italian brand will therefore supply the leaders’ jerseys for all three Grand Tours, returning to the forefront of the sport’s biggest stage races.
The link between Castelli and the yellow jersey was especially strong in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The Italian brand took over the supply of the jersey in 1989 and held the role until 1994. During that period, Greg LeMond won two of his Tour titles, while Miguel Indurain claimed four of his five consecutive victories.

Nike, Le Coq Sportif and Santini: the latest changes
The planned return in July 2027 will bring back a familiar brand for fans who followed the Spanish rider’s successes. Indurain won his fifth Tour in 1995, but another supplier had taken over by then: Giordana, which held the role for just one season.
Before Castelli, the yellow jersey was associated with Le Coq Sportif. The French brand supplied champions such as Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Laurent Fignon, and also dressed LeMond for his first victory. Its stint ended in 1988, when Pedro Delgado won the race.
After Giordana’s brief stint, Nike took over in 1996 and supplied the jersey until 2011. During those years, the yellow jersey was worn by champions including Óscar Pereiro, Alberto Contador and Carlos Sastre.
The Nike era
It also featured during Lance Armstrong’s victories, though his seven Tour titles were later stripped because of doping. Cadel Evans, who beat Andy Schleck, brought that period to a close.
In 2012, Le Coq Sportif returned as supplier of cycling’s most recognisable jersey. The rooster was back on the yellow jersey during an era that included Chris Froome’s four victories and Tadej Pogačar’s first two. The French brand’s second stint lasted until 2021.

Santini took over supply in 2022 and has since dressed the Tour winners, including Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard. The Italian brand, also known for making the rainbow jerseys worn by world champions, will hand over to Castelli after the 2026 season.
The change will take effect in July 2027, when the new supplier’s scorpion returns to the yellow jersey. Castelli will once again be part of the Tour, having featured in four of Indurain’s five victories. The brand will expand its presence across the Grand Tours by supplying the leader’s jerseys for the Tour de France and La Vuelta, while continuing its association with the Giro d’Italia’s maglia rosa.

- his Roubaix win was amazing. not to take anything away from him - arguably one of MVDP's wins was at the expense of a WVA flat - but so many things need to line up to get one of these. He had a perfect race with fewer bike issues on an attritional course. And crazy strong as usual. Glad he got this done.mij04-11-2026

- A mindset that reminds me of Tim Declerq. I loved watching that guy just pound away the kilometers, hours at the front, holding an entire breakaway in check on his own. Bjerg seems like a similar guy. Curling, the team sport.RidesHills04-11-2026

- I would love to have his inconsistency. How many wins this year? 2 TdF stages, a WC, a Euro championship, San Sebastian, multiple wins early year. Monument podiums. I'd take it. I don't think he has a chance in the TdF, but he is still amazing.mij04-11-2026
- He's not going to win the TdF. Maybe if they make every single stage a TT he could win. But I still believe Tadej would just sharpen his TT skills and win.mij04-11-2026
