One of the riders expected to finish with the best in Alto do Malhão was Tobias Foss. The Norwegian rider of Team Jumbo-Visma came a bit short to what was expected. He finished only in the 9th place 21 seconds behind stage winner and new race leader Tom Pidcock.
"It was okay, but I didn't have the best legs today. I just gave everything and all in all I am quite satisfied. In the beginning of the final climb I still felt good, but when Pidcock accelerated for the second time I had no chance. From there it was just riding full speed to the finish", Foss told the Eurosport interviewer.
With this result Foss dropped from the top 10, sitting 11 place overall 33 seconds behind INEOS-Grenadiers rider Tom Pidcock. Tomorrow will be the 24.4 kilometres long time trial in Lagoa the final stage of Volta ao Algarve. A course that suits very well Tobias Foss and the current time trial World Champion knows that.
'The time trial is very good for me, sleep well tonight and then full throttle tomorrow.", Foss remarked about tomorrow's stage 5 of Volta ao Algarve.
