Tao Geoghegan Hart set for Lidl-Trek debut as the team announces their lineup for the Volta ao Algarve

Tao Geoghegan Hart is set to make his debut for Lidl-Trek at the Volta ao Algarve this week. The British rider will be riding alongside other new riders Andrea Bagioli and Sam Oomen, as well as Daan Hoole, Jasper Stuyven, Edward Theuns and Mathias Vacek.

Bagioli and Oomen have already made their debut for the team at other races this season, with both of them riding the Figueira Champions Classic last weekend. This will also be Stuyven’s first race of the season, as the former Milano-Sanremo winner looks to build his form ahead of the opening weekend of the Classics at the end of the month.

At the Volta ao Algarve, the team will be aiming for a strong early season result in the overall standings with Geoghegan Hart, as he makes his return to racing after his season-ending crash at last year’s Giro d’Italia.

The former INEOS Grenadiers rider started last season well, with a stage win and a third place finish in the general classification at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. A similar performance at this race would be a strong statement of intent going into the rest of the year ahead of his main objective at the Tour de France.
