“The goal for the Ruta del Sol is clear: the general classification” - Felix Gall set to lead Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale at the Vuelta a Andalucía

After an impressive season in 2023, in which he won the queen stage at the Tour de France, Felix Gall is set to ride his first race of the year at the Vuelta a Andalucía, where he will lead the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale team and target the overall victory. The Austrian rider will be joined by the team’s new signings Dries De Bondt and Sander De Pestel, along with Alex Baudin, Paul Lapeira, Oliver Naesen and Andrea Vendrame.

In an interview with his team ahead of the race, Gall said “my goal for the Ruta del Sol is clear: the general classification. A stage win would also be great for the team”. Gall is yet to take an overall victory at a stage race in his professional career, although he has proven himself to be a capable stage racer, as he finished eighth overall at last year’s Tour de France.

Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale have already had a strong start to the season, as they took the victory at the Vuelta a Murcia with Ben O’Connor last weekend. In his interview, Gall went on to say that “Ben O’Connor’s victory is an additional motivation”, as the pair compete for GC leadership within the team.
