Stage 3 of the Tour de l'Avenir was expected to be a day for the breakaway, but instead it proved to be one where chaos reigned. Carl-Frederik Bévort was the surprise victor of the day, having been caught from the initial breakaway, formed part of a second escapee group and then taking an impressive solo win.
From the escapee group, Bévort attacked his companions with 28 kilometers to go and rode a perfect solo finale to hold off the peloton by a mere 12 seconds. Stage 1 winner Noah Hobbs won the sprint in the peloton for second place followed by Seth Dunwoody. Maxime Decomble has maintained the yellow jersey.
