SD Worx's 26-year-old Belgian, Lotte Kopecky is hoping to emulate the form that saw her emerge victorious at Strade Bianche and the Tour of Flanders earlier this year, at this weekends World Championship in Wollongong.
Despite being heavily fancied by many, Kopecky claims she feels no pressure, "we will see. I start without pressure, I don’t feel pressure from the federation, which is nice. I will see where it brings me.”
Kopecky had initially planned to skip this years World Championship after having had such a busy season. However after changing her mind she first competed in the individual time trial on September 18th, with the current Belgian time trial champion finishing in a very respectable 9th. “When I saw the participants, I was thinking that maybe I could get top 10 so I think I can be happy with the performance,”
Intent on playing down her chances of victory, Kopecky said the following, "I’ve just tried to take all of the positive signs from the Vuelta and from [Sunday], just to get my head with as much confidence as possible because I know that preparation was not ideal. I’m happy with this and I hope I can just stay relaxed as possible.”
