The Tour de France Femmes takes place from Saturday, 1 August to Sunday, 9 August 2026, with nine stages carrying the peloton from Lausanne in Switzerland to Nice on the French Riviera.
The full startlist for the fifth edition of the modern Tour de France Femmes can be found below, bringing together the teams and riders set to contest one of the biggest races on the women's cycling calendar.
The 2026 route includes sprint opportunities, hilly stages, a 21-kilometre individual time trial and two major mountain days.
Mont Ventoux makes its Tour de France Femmes debut on Stage 7, before the yellow jersey is decided on a demanding final circuit around Nice featuring four ascents of the Col d'Eze.

A brief history of the Tour de France Femmes

The first recognised women's Tour was held over five stages in 1955 and won by British rider Millie Robinson. A more established Tour de France Feminin later ran alongside the men's race between 1984 and 1989, producing winners including Marianne Martin, Maria Canins and French legend Jeannie Longo.
Different versions of a major women's stage race around France followed, most notably the Grande Boucle Feminine Internationale, but financial and organisational difficulties eventually led to its disappearance.
La Course by Le Tour de France was introduced in 2014 as a high-profile one-day event connected to the men's Tour, although calls continued for the return of a proper multi-stage race.
The modern Tour de France Femmes was launched in 2022. Annemiek van Vleuten won the inaugural edition, followed by Demi Vollering in 2023, Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney in 2024 and Pauline Ferrand-Prevot in 2025.

The leading GC contenders

Defending champion Ferrand-Prevot returns with Team Visma | Lease a Bike as she looks to repeat her 2025 victory. Her main rival is expected to be Vollering, who has finished inside the top two in every edition of the modern Tour. The FDJ United – SUEZ leader won the race in 2023 and was runner-up in 2022, 2024 and 2025.
Former winner Niewiadoma-Phinney also lines up for Canyon – SRAM, while Marlen Reusser could benefit considerably from the inclusion of the Dijon individual time trial. Elisa Longo Borghini heads a powerful UAE Team LIMAD selection containing Mavi Garcia, Silvia Persico, Maeva Squiban and Dominika Wlodarczyk.
Anna van der Breggen, Kim Le Court-Pienaar, Niamh Fisher-Black, Cedrine Kerbaol, Liane Lippert and Antonia Niedermaier are among the other riders capable of challenging towards the top of the general classification.

Sprint stars and stage hunters

Lorena Wiebes is the standout pure sprinter on the startlist and will be among the leading favourites whenever a sizeable group contests the finish. Charlotte Kool and Elisa Balsamo are two of her most dangerous rivals, while Chiara Consonni, Letizia Paternoster and Arianna Fidanza add further depth to the sprint field.
Lotte Kopecky gives Team SD Worx – Protime options across several different types of stage, while Marianne Vos remains a threat in reduced sprints and uphill finishes.
Puck Pieterse has already won a stage at the Tour de France Femmes and can feature on both hilly and selective terrain. Kristen Faulkner will be one of the leading contenders in the Dijon time trial and is also capable of winning through a long-range attack.

Other standout names to watch

Justine Ghekiere, Yara Kastelijn and Evita Muzic add further climbing strength to the field, with each capable of targeting difficult stages or featuring from the breakaway.
Pfeiffer Georgi, Mischa Bredewold, Christina Schweinberger and Ruby Roseman-Gannon should be prominent across the rolling stages, while Alison Jackson, Amalie Dideriksen, Soraya Paladin and Brodie Chapman bring considerable experience as opportunistic stage hunters.
The startlist also contains a strong group of emerging riders. Marion Bunel, Julie Bego, Celia Gery, Rosa Kloser, Monica Trinca Colonel and Sara Casasola are among the younger names looking to make an impact on the biggest stage race in women's cycling.
