Soudal Quick-Step has unveiled the names of its seven riders who will be participating in the
E3 Saxo Classic, with the likes of
Julian Alaphilippe,
Kasper Asgreen,
Yves Lampaert, and
Florian Sénéchal as the team's key members.
Alaphilippe is venturing into uncharted territory as he has never started in the 'mini-Tour of Flanders' before. This event offers him another opening to aim for a significant victory, having already achieved success in the Faun-Ardèche Classic. In the Milano-Sanremo competition, his best performance was finishing in 11th place.
Asgreen is a prime candidate for the win, having already taken the top spot in 2021 edition. Meanwhile, Sénéchal claimed second place just behind Asgreen. Lampaert’s performance in Classic Brugge-De Panne can be a good indicator of his performance on this Friday.
Tom Steels, the sports director, believes that the team is capable of aiming for a place on the podium. "The E3 is one of the toughest races of the season and a good rehearsal for the Tour of Flanders. We have a solid team, with former winner Kasper, Yves and Julian. We look forward to seeing Julian back on the cobbles. The entry list is strong and we expect difficult conditions, but that does not diminish our confidence and motivation. We hope to be there at key moments.”
