Denmark have announced their lineup for the upcoming World Championships, which include some notable absences, but still with a lineup that brings the hopes of a medal to the northern nation.
Although they have not shown the form of the past season, it will be a team headlined by several riders, in which
Jakob Fuglsang and Mikkel Honoré are expected to have a leading role. Magnus Cort Nielsen, Mattias Skjelmose and Alexander Kamp - second at the recent Bretagne Classic - will all be riders to consider aswell, bringing in a wide array of experience in the classics, but also significant quality and depth in the explosive climbing field.
Team national coach Anders Lund said that "Søren Kragh Andersen has had to withdraw from the WC with a bad sitting sore," making for another high-level absence - specially after showing good form at the recent Tour of Denmark. With Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard skipping the race to focus on his training and Il Lombardia, and Vuelta a Espana green jersey Mads Pedersen opting to close his season after the Spanish race, it leaves Denmark without many of it's possible leaders. Michael Morkov, Anthon Charmig and Mikkel Bjerg complete the lineup, whilst Bjerg and Magnus Cort Nielsen will compete in the time-trial.
