Simone Velasco of Astana Qazaqstan Team took the breakaway win in the 3rd stage of Volta a Comunitat Valenciana. A stage ideal for the breakaway, it almost came to a selective sprint with the peloton finishing almost the same time as the fugitives.
A group of 5 riders featuring Bora-Hansgrohe recent sign Bob Jungels, Simone Velasco (Astana Qazaqstan Team), Lawson Craddock (Jayco-AIUla) and Jonas Greegard (Uno-X) formed the breakaway of the stage. Lawson Craddock launched an attack on the last climb but was caught by his breakaway companions in the descent.

The peloton started the last climb with Team UAE pulling with Thomas Gloag (Jumbo-Visma) attacking in the hardest zone. But he was caught and in the rest of the race Bahrain-Victorious and Movistar Team did the most to catch the breakaway to no avail.
The Italian Simone Velasco (Astana Qazaqstan Team) finished ahead of his breakaway companions Bob Jungels (Bora-Hansgrohe) and Jonas Gregaard (Uno-X) taking the win in a sprint against them.
