🇮🇹 @giroditalia | #Giro: Brandon McNulty (UAD) se lleva la 15ª etapa en Bergamo. @Einerrubio1, 5º en meta, a unos 2’ de los tres líderes.
The Colombians Santiago Buitrago and Einer Rubio did not start the 2023 Giro d'Italia in the best possible form. There were 2 time trials in the first week, the speciality they are worst at. However, when we face the third week, things have changed.
Especially, it must be said, for the Movistar Team rider . And it is that Rubio has already complied by managing to win a stage, getting fully involved in the fight for the Mountain classification, fighting for another two stages and approaching the top 10 in the general classification.
We can't say too much about Buitrago so far, but he's also in the fight to enter the top 10. The Bahrain Victorious rider has the second-best GC standing in his team, just behind Damiano Caruso who is sixth. He is going to be key in this last week with high mountains as the main protagonist. We will see if he gets into breakaways or tries to hold out among the best to help the Italian and, why not, try to win by himself.
Thus, with only 6 stages to go before the Giro d'Italia concludes, Rubio is 14th, 1 minute and 11 seconds behind Laurens de Plus, the rider who occupies 10th place and who is going to work in the mountains for Geraint Thomas. Buitrago, for his part, is 15th, 2 minutes and 4 seconds behind the Belgian. Exciting week ahead in the Italian mountains.
