Results Tour of Guangxi 2026 Stage 2 - Frits Biesterbos stuns Paul Magnier to take Picnic's first World Tour win of the year
Cycling
Frits Biesterbos (Team Picnic PostNL) won stage 2 of the Tour de Guangxi 2026 after beating Frenchman Paul Magnier, who could not repeat his opening-stage victory. The Dutchman claimed the win in a fiercely contested sprint, with Olav Kooij (Decathlon CMA CGM) completing the stage podium. All three crossed the finish line in the same time: 3 hours, 45 minutes and 19 seconds.
Magnier had opened the race with a victory, but had to settle for second place this time. The Soudal Quick-Step rider was again among the fastest in the peloton, but could not finish the job with a second consecutive win. Biesterbos seized his opportunity to claim an important victory in the Chinese race and deny the Frenchman a second triumph.
The finish brought together several of the top sprinters in the race. Biesterbos was the fastest, taking the win ahead of runner-up Magnier and third-placed Kooij.
Max Kanter (XDS Astana Team) finished fourth, with Robin Froidevaux (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) fifth. Jordi Meeus (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe), another notable name in the fast finishes, came sixth, ahead of Matteo Moschetti (Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team) in seventh.
Erlend Blikra (Uno-X Mobility) was listed eighth, Lionel Taminiaux (Lotto Intermarché) and Oded Kogut (NSN Cycling Team) rounded out the top ten.
Magnier has retained the race lead ahead of the third stage of the race, whilst Biesterbos' win is only the third of Picnic's season - and first at World Tour level.

- There was once a time when Lance was supremely popular and he used his artificial "It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life" persona to lead his mob in going after Greg. There was no one Lance did not abuse in protecting his phony hero image. Lance promoted himself as a divine megastar and he let down millions of cancer victims and gullible devotees who clung far too long to the charade. Lance is the epitome of a corrupt person and because of his power, many around him, including business enterprises, succumbed to the evil. All who got in Armstrong's way were mercilessly attacked by him and his minions. This remarkably continues today with a new generation. LeMond was a number one enemy and paid a huge price.
