Lenny Martínez has had a strong first season with
Bahrain - Victorious with victories all-year round in all kinds of races. He has closed it off with another triumph, this time around at the
Japan Cup which together with several other races today, closes out the UCI calendar for the season.
The Frenchman was able to take advantage of his climbing abilities in the 144-kilometer long race, which featured a hilly circuit around the town of Utsunomiya. On the final lap, already from a very short group that had been formed previously, Martínez launched a devastating attack which saw him go solo off the front.
The 22-year old managed to ride to a solo win, winning with a comfortable margin in the end holding off the chase of Alex Baudin and Ion Izagirre who worked together to finish second and third in the meantime behind.
