Results Eneco Tour 2026 Prologue - Jakob Söderqvist redeems himself after the European Championships with a narrow victory
Cycling
Jakob Söderqvist (Lidl-Trek) became the first leader of the Eneco Tour 2026 after winning the prologue, an individual time trial in which he set the fastest time with an outstanding ride. The Swede covered the course in 3 minutes and 32.330 seconds at an average speed of 52.56 km/h, finishing less than a second ahead of his nearest rival.
The battle for victory was tight, especially among the top finishers. Wessel Mouris (Unibet Rose Rockets) finished just 750 thousandths of a second behind Söderqvist, while Christophe Laporte (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) took third, 1.410 seconds off the winning time. The first day of racing was decided by just over a second between the three riders.
Söderqvist’s victory gave Lidl-Trek the best possible start to the Eneco Tour. The Swede was fastest in a short time trial where every fraction of a second counted. His time of 3:32.330 secured first place and gave him a small advantage ahead of the following stages.
Mouris produced a particularly impressive ride for Unibet Rose Rockets. The Dutchman crossed the line just 0.750 seconds behind the winner, while Laporte completed the podium 1.410 seconds down. The Frenchman, one of the best-known names in the field, narrowly missed out on victory in this opening race against the clock.
Ethan Hayter (Soudal Quick-Step) finished fourth, 2.200 seconds back, and Michiel Mouris (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe) was fifth, 3.030 seconds down. Finn Fisher-Black, Michiel Mouris’ teammate, took sixth, 4.040 seconds off the fastest time.
Tomáš Kopecký (Unibet Rose Rockets) finished seventh, 4.670 seconds down, ahead of Pepijn Reinderink (Soudal Quick-Step), eighth at 6.210 seconds. Edoardo Affini (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) took ninth, 6.640 seconds back, while Hartthijs de Vries, also of Unibet Rose Rockets, rounded out the top 10 at 6.677 seconds.

Söderqvist won the opening time trial of the Eneco Tour
The opening standings put Söderqvist at the head of the race, although the gaps between the main contenders remain very small. The prologue established the first positions and handed the Lidl-Trek rider the leader’s jersey, but his advantage over his closest rivals is still slim.
The Swede’s victory launched the Eneco Tour 2026 with a high-speed time trial and a close finish. Mouris and Laporte came closest to challenging him, while Hayter and both Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe riders also placed in the top six. Söderqvist will now start as the race’s first leader, carrying the early advantage earned with his excellent ride against the clock.

- JV is really slighting himself with not doing the 1 dayers.. 🤷
leedorney02-11-2026 - Watch the interview on youtube. I don't speak French. I do speak English and Spanish and you can hear it in his voice. Years ago LeMond had real personal problems I imagine in no small part because of Armstrong. then Armstrong goes round "full blast" re: LeMond having drinking and drug problems. The same way Andreu was expelled from mainstream cycling so was LeMond. On the positive side the clips of the ride and chatting with old teammates and was good. To seemed like a fun day and experience and good reason brush up his French.atom02-11-2026
- and another no-news article around the ‚2 tokyo jogging rounds‘ headline, this time spiced with some days old ‚news‘ that the LA and japan vacation trips come during or after the tdf route release. i am getting more and more annoyed by this time-stealing no-news crap. but who am i to complain? nobody forces me to come back for more ‚news‘ day after day …Ketterechts02-11-2026
- It would likely be a very steep section of 4.1 km, not changing the average gradient considerably, with the climb remaining 10.1 km at 11.8%. It would reach 20% on the gravel. It would start 1.6 km in, and finish with 4.2 km left to climb (before the short final descent)

- bravo! a rider likes jonas needs motivation and he needs to believe in being able to reach goals. he - like anybody else in the world - doesn't believe that he can win the tdf with pogi present. and what's it worth for when pogi is not there? second class victory only. he has checked all three grand tours, so what is left if not retire? the classics! go for it, jonas!Ketterechts02-11-2026
