As the heat between Remco Evenepoel and Soudal - Quick-Step rises the team pushes forward to try and boost it's mountain block further and further. They may be on the brink of a new important signing, George Bennett is heavily hinted to join the team in 2024.
This has been reported by Gazzetta dello Sport's Ciro Scognamiglio, who reported that the Kiwi is most likely leaving UAE Team Emirates at the end of the season and the likely destination is the Belgian team. It is a move that seems quite possible as Quick-Step are seeking climbers to support Evenepoel who will be making his Tour de France debut next season.
The team is said to have already agreed on a deal with Mikel Landa who has the potential to be a very significant move. Pure climbers are the focus at the moment, riders that will have as the priority to support the former World Champion. Jan Hirt was brought in this season but he's struggled with form, Ilan van Wilder and Louis Vervaeke stepped up to the position but still present little competition to the likes of Jumbo-Visma and UAE Team Emirates who get stronger by the year.
Amidst the public feud between Patrick Lefevere and Patrick Evenepoel, Remco's father and agent, it has become clear that although the Belgian has a contract until 2026 this may not be followed all the way to the end if the team is not capable of following the demands of a rider who's interested in battling Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard.
