Primoz Roglic’s wife emotional over 36-year-old Slovenian’s possible retirement: ‘I’m not ready for this yet’
Cycling
Primoz Roglic isn't ready to call time on his stellar career just yet, at least that's according to his wife, Lora Roglič-Klinc. The Slovenian turns 37 later this year and has not yet confirmed that he will continue riding after making an honest admission after Il Lombardia.
The Red bull - BORA Hansgrohe rider has rolled back the clock the past few weeks, finishing second place at the Vuelta a Espana, featuring prominently at the World and European Championships as well as winning the European time trial title on home soil.
Amid transfer interest led by Tudor Pro Cycling, Lotto-Intermarche and Pinarello Q36.5 among other teams, one thing is for certain - he won't continue with Red Bull in 2027. Both rider and team have confirmed that he will not be part of their roster next season.
Despite a resurgent end to the season, Roglic himself admitted that he has plenty to consider when it comes to his future. Implying that options remain for 2027, Roglic wants to focus on the bigger picture ahead of a new season.
In an interview with Slovenian outlet Sportal, she spoke candidly about her husband’s uncertainty. When the conversation turned to his possible retirement, she became emotional.
His wife Lora believes that both of them aren't quite ready to call it quits. She admitted that she will respect his decision going forward, but wants to be by his side next season.

"I’m not ready for this yet"
“Yes, absolutely, I’m not ready for this yet, especially since it’s so sudden, I really hope this isn’t the last time we talk about this or that I have to look back on it. He’s not ready to quit yet. At least, I don't think he's ready for that, but we have to respect his decision. It will be hard for me to accept that we won't be by his side along the road anymore."
Reflecting on his European Championships glory last week, Lora paid tribute to her partner's stellar career that included five Grand Tour wins and multiple instances where he bounced back from disappointment to put in top level performances.
“What could be better than winning at home? When you lose, you lose, and you have to deal with it on your own. But winning is best when you’re with others, when you can share that joy with someone. I can’t think of a better moment than winning at home, for the people who were there for you even during tough times. For me, it was something extraordinary.

"When you look back, there were more difficult moments than happy ones. We were all proud of him when he won. But I’m most proud of the moments when he convinced us that it was worth persevering, that we had to grit our teeth. All those moments when he kept going.”
In his latest update on his future, Roglic put the onus on himself when it comes to lining up his next steps, claiming that he has bounced between feelings of wanting to retire or sign a new contract.

“There are no major updates compared to a few days ago, I haven’t decided yet," Roglic told Siol.
"Very significant things happened at the end of the season. I need to reflect on how to fit all of this into the bigger picture. I have a lot on my mind, and the issue is me. I have to decide whether to sign or call it a day. Sometimes I lean one way, sometimes the other.”

- dude, Lemond never even was in the same race as Armstrong. He throws all these aspersions on other American riders who might usurp his throne as the greatest ever American racer. He doesn't say a single thing about (foreign) dopers who he actually raced against. Biggest douchebag move ever. I used to revere that guy, now I despise him. His actions are so weird.fatsupermodel02-11-2026
- This is just stupid, You do what you are good at not what you are weak at. He has no results to speak of when he participated. Even Froome, Conatdor had very little. With Pogi there he wont win none of the classics. he is already 30+ with a few years left at the top. It takes years to get good at classics. Is that really worth the effort???abstractengineer02-11-2026

- 'The Slovenian has collected four Tour de France titles' ... '[Kieran Wood's] ... reporting spans the full racing calendar, from one-day classics to stage races, with a focus on accurate, real-time coverage and clear contextual analysis'. i would say that is pretty inaccurate accurate coverage, kieran wood ... too bad that AI's knowledge often lags several months behind ... but proof reading is certainly part of accurate coverage, isn't it? but fortunately does Kieran Wood place 'strong emphasis on careful sourcing, editorial accuracy, and updating articles as new, verified information becomes available.' i would say the fifth tdf title is pretty new (and even verified) information, so feel free to update this article.Ketterechts01-11-2026
