Preview. The Tour of the Alps is frequently the main lead-up race towards the Giro d'Italia, and stage 1 will immediately be a tough challenge that will make it a very interesting race, with the overall classification fight to open up.
The opening stage will be quite short and have a hilltop finish in Alpbach. The ascent of the Kerschbaumer Sattel will be 5 kilometers long at 10.5% and create serious gaps. Afterwards, the final climb with feature 6.2 kilometers at 4.6% where differences can further be consolidated.

- Team politics are terrible, I suspect that the team management knows who the strongest is on UAE in this Giro, Juan Ayuso is a great young athlete but he wobbles all the time. I figure UAE will go with who feels better. If del Toro feels good the team will probably back him. To hear Isaac say he stopped riding to wait for Ayuso because it was the right thing to do, made me upset. I know we are only fans but we want to see the strongest win.awp23-05-2025
