"This is an important step towards the Giro" - Domenico Pozzovivo ready to take on Tour of the Alps

Winner of the Tour of the Alps over a decade ago in 2012, Domenico Pozzovivo is back once again this time as leader of an Israel - Premier Tech team hoping for a big win.

Aside from his sole victory at the Tour of the Alps back in 2012, the now 40-year-old Italian has won three stages and finished on the podium a very impressive six times, most recently when he finished second in 2018 behind the eventual winner, Thibaut Pinot.

"This is an important step towards the Giro. I will try to do a good general classification," Pozzovivo told his team, Israel-Premier Tech's official website. "And why not play for a stage win since all five stages are more or less suitable for climbers"

Supporting Pozzovivo in the mountains of the Alps will be Sebastian Berwick, Marco Frigo, Omer Goldstein, Ben Hermans, Matthew Riccitello and Guy Sagiv.
