Preview. The second edition of the Itzulia Women will have 3 tough stages and a total of 370.2 km spread over 3 days of competition that will take place between May 12 and 14 on the roads of the Basque Country.
This edition will include no less than seven mountain passes - one first category, two second category and four third category. The world's best female climbers are expected to fight for victory. In the first edition Demi Vollering, the rider of the moment in the women's WorldTour, swept the field.
The first stage is a classic Itzulia stage, with numerous climbs from the start and several passes that link up to the finish line in Markina-Xemein. After some flat first kilometers, the Tejera will be climbed and there will be a steep terrain with a bonus intermediate sprint that can be key for the overall. The finish will be brutal with the climb to Malkuartu and the 5km descent to the finish in Amurrio.
The overall will be decided in a beautiful last stage with a route very similar to the Clásica de San Sebastián with the well-known climbs of Jaizkibel, Gurutze and the Murgil wall to Mendizorrotz with the traditional final descent to Donostia.
