We
preview the
Coppa Agostoni, one of the Italian Autumn classics that builds up towards Il Lombardia. Although this is a race for the classics specialists and sprinters, it is part of the October block of semi-classics that always provides a spectacle. It will take place on the
5th of October,
starting at 13:00CET and
finishing at 16:55CET.
The riders start and finish the race in the city of Lissone, with a flat finale but a very hilly bulk of the race where a lot of attacks are expected. It is a race that can fit many riders and we can see the winner come from a wide variety of scenarios.
A small bunch sprint is possible, a sprint from a small or rather large group are both viable options, but a solo attack after a tactical race is also a very big possibility with such a profile. The riders from early on - from 140 to 35 kilometers to go approximately - will be climbing and descending almost non-stop. This will be a small circuit that includes three climbs, all of them relatively short and not overly steep, where it's possible to make the difference but above all it's very possible to use numbers to a team's advantage and where putting on an organized chase is a difficult task.
UAE Team Emirates - XRG does not have a brutal profile to make the difference, but in
Isaac del Toro, Jay Vine and Adam Yates have a strong trio to blow up the race in the climbs. Strong sprinters such as Kaden Groves and Orluis Aular will be tough competition if everything comes back together in the end, whilst a few teams such as Decathlon AG2R and Astana have strong collectives with multiple options.
