Peter Sagan's road career officially closed down at Tour of Slovakia

While most eyes were focused on the battle at Tour de France, there is another piece of news that deserves at least a quick mention. Today, Peter Sagan completed his very last road race (he swears). And he did that in front of his home crowds at Tour of Slovakia.

His current formation, Pierre Baguette Cycling, announced this via social media. This brings an end to an impressive road career, in which Sagan became a three-time world champion and perhaps even more impressively seven-time green jersey winner at the Tour de France, winning twelve stages along the way. It's a rider who left indelible mark on cycling as well as in everyone's heart, becoming the fan-favourite thanks to his great attitude and a little bit of showmanship - something that wasn't common in the cycling world before Sagan's arrival.
