Peter Sagan out of competition with concussion following harsh Paris-Roubaix crash

Peter Sagan was an outsider for Paris-Roubaix. The 2018 winner had high dreams coming into the race, but those dreams were shattered as he crashed and suffered meaningful injuries before the race even broke up.

"Reassuring news from Peter Sagan: victim of a fall, he suffers from wounds and a concussion," TotalEnergies announced, following the fall of the former World Champion during the French race. "The results of the additional examinations taken at the hospital are reassuring. Rest now."

The Slovakian took to the start of his final monument but had a difficult goodbye. He did not make it to the velodrome in Roubaix but instead his race ended in a field in northern France. Sagan crashed hard in one of the early cobbled sectors of the race and abandoned, obviously injured at the time being.
