Pello Bilbao set to lead Bahrain Victorious at the UAE Tour along with Phil Bauhaus as the team announces their lineup for the race

After a successful start to the season at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, where he finished sixth overall, Pello Bilbao is set to take part in his first WorldTour race of the season at the UAE Tour. He will lead the line for his Bahrain Victorious team along with Phil Bauhaus, who will target the sprint stages.

They will be joined by Torstein Træen, Cameron Scott, Johan Price-Pejtersen, Rainer Kepplinger and Nikias Arndt, who will ride in support of Bilbao as he aims for a strong result in the general classification.

In an interview with his team ahead of the race, Bilbao said “ I’m feeling really good and motivated and will arrive in perfect shape with the goal of fighting for the podium and maybe even a stage”.

The Spaniard narrowly missed out on the podium at last year’s edition of the race, as he finished fourth overall, three seconds behind Adam Yates in third. On last year’s race, he went on to say that “I was a bit disappointed in the end, as I expected to be on the podium and on the last day, it was a hard day for me, losing out on the podium by a few seconds after a really good race with all the team”.
