Lanterne Rouge is one of the most recognizable channels in the Youtube cycling community. Patrick Broe, the creator of the channel, also hosts a very popular podcast and has put his cycling knowhow to use with Jumbo-Visma from 2022 onwards. Now, the Dutch team sign him into the coaching staff in a continuous push to seek innovation.

"Patrick has been an important sparring partner for me and for the other coaches since 2022. It works very well to add a smart and critical eye," team DS Merijn Zeeman said in a press release. "The past two years this worked out very well and I am happy that Patrick will now also formally be part of our coaching staff." The Australian is said to be one of the people behind the change of tactics seen throughout the 2022 season from the Dutch team, which often saw groups of two or three riders attack together and take off to dominant victories throughout the season.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Visma | Lease a bike over the last two seasons. Providing my input within their high performance environment has given me a lot of energy and experience alongside my core work," Broe said. "I think it is a testament to that working environment that an already successful team pushes for outside feedback to test assumptions and look for new ways to improve. Winning one grand tour in a year should never be taken for granted, so winning all three with three different riders this season was something very special."

Recently, the Dutch team also brought swimming coach Jacco Verhaeren into their team in an effort to keep having an edge over other teams. "I am very grateful to have been a part of this historical achievement. I also hope the fans have been entertained by some surprising and exciting racing along the way. My thanks in particular to Merijn Zeeman for his tutelage, as well as Grischa Niermann and Mathieu Heijboer for their collegiality. I look forward to working together to achieve the goals for the 2024 season and beyond," 'Lanterne Rouge' concluded.
