A lot of schedule decisions were made public today at the Team Visma | Lease a Bike camp, as the Dutch team hosted its media day and finally confirmed
Jonas Vingegaard's debut at the
Giro d'Italia. CyclingUpToDate and
Cyclism'Actu have been able to confirm the team's lineup for the upcoming Giro d'Italia as the team prepare to fight for the pink jersey.
For several months already it was an open secret that the Dane would be participating in the Corsa Rosa, trying to complete the Grand Tour trilogy that he can now achieve after winning the 2025 Vuelta a España. It was the logic decision for the Dutch team and for Vingegaard who expressed a great deal of motivation to be racing a new calendar with new goals. He will race the UAE Tour and Volta a Catalunya, meeting Remco Evenepoel in both instances.
At the Giro d'Italia he will then be joined by a set of riders that will help him pursue the pink jersey. Unlike what had been previously reported, Filippo Fiorelli will not be in the lineup. Instead, the team will consist of
Sepp Kuss, Davide Piganzoli, Bart Lemmen and Wilco Kelderman as support in the mountains; Victor Campenaerts and Edoardo Affini will provide support mostly on the flat stages; whilst Timo Kielich will make his third Giro appearance, but first in a three-week race with the team.
