A lot of schedule decisions were made public today at the Team Visma | Lease a Bike camp, as the Dutch team hosted its media day and finally confirmed Jonas Vingegaard's debut at the Giro d'Italia. CyclingUpToDate and Cyclism'Actu have been able to confirm the team's lineup for the upcoming Giro d'Italia as the team prepare to fight for the pink jersey.
For several months already it was an open secret that the Dane would be participating in the Corsa Rosa, trying to complete the Grand Tour trilogy that he can now achieve after winning the 2025 Vuelta a España. It was the logic decision for the Dutch team and for Vingegaard who expressed a great deal of motivation to be racing a new calendar with new goals. He will race the UAE Tour and Volta a Catalunya, meeting Remco Evenepoel in both instances.
At the Giro d'Italia he will then be joined by a set of riders that will help him pursue the pink jersey. Unlike what had been previously reported, Filippo Fiorelli will not be in the lineup. Instead, the team will consist of Sepp Kuss, Davide Piganzoli, Bart Lemmen and Wilco Kelderman as support in the mountains; Victor Campenaerts and Edoardo Affini will provide support mostly on the flat stages; whilst Timo Kielich will make his third Giro appearance, but first in a three-week race with the team.
The block will be solid, but not the same as in the Tour de France, where there is a much more complete lineup packed with quality in pursuit of the yellow jersey. Wout van Aert, Matteo Jorgenson and Victor Campenaerts have long been hinted as riders who would not be missing out on the lineup, but the remaining four men seem to have already been selected by the Dutch team. Sepp Kuss and Ben Tulett will be supporting in the mountains after the superb Vuelta a España both had; whilst Christophe Laporte and new team signing Bruno Armirail will also be part of the lineup as French support.
