It's official. After months of speculation, Demi Vollering's future has now been decided. In 2025 and beyond the former Tour de France Femmes winning superstar of the women's peloton, will take on a new challenge at FDJ - Suez.
Announcing the signing in a brilliant video posted to their social media account, the arrival of Vollering is a real statement move from the French-based outfit. “This is a great day and a new step for the team. Demi is an immense champion and we can't wait to work on her development and see her compete in the team's blue white and red jersey," says FDJ-Suez general manager Stephen Delcourt in a press release. “With our sponsors, FDJ and SUEZ, as well as our historical partners, we have been working for several years to build a competitive world team on a healthy and stable foundation. Let's ride.”
As mentioned, a Tour de France Femmes winner back in 2023, Vollering is arguably the women's peloton's premier Grand Tour rider. Although she lost out on the Maillot Jaune by just 4 seconds in 2024 to Katarzyna Niewiadoma, the Dutchwoman is confident this transfer switch can bring her back to the very top of the women's World Tour.
“I couldn't get the smile off my face,” she says about the announcement. “I'm happy to be embarking on this adventure, to experience something new and to rediscover myself in this team. I've always liked the collective fighting spirit of FDJ-SUEZ and its attacking mentality during races. We're going to have a great team and I'm convinced that great things await us.”
With Vollering becoming the latest of six new signings for FDJ-Suez ahead of the 2025 season, alongside Juliette Labous, Elise Chabbey, Ally Wollaston, Eglantine Rayer and Célia Gery, the long held dominance of Vollering's former employers Team SD Worx - Protime may be in doubt.
