Primoz Roglic had been expected to compete against the likes of compatriot Tadej Pogacar and rival Remco Evenepoel at the final monument of the season next weekend. After a somewhat disappointing preparation though, the Slovenian has called an early end to his season ahead of Il Lombardia.
"A long season comes to an end. Primoz and the performance team decided to draw a line under an exciting year and to start his off-season immediately," explains the official social media pages of Roglic's Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe team. "Join us wishing him a good recovery and a wonderful off-season - well deserved Primoz!"
Although Roglic couldn't complete his main goal for the year, crashing out of the Tour de France, notable victories at the likes of the Critérium du Dauphiné and a record equalling 4th Red Jersey triumph at the Vuelta a Espana have ensured that Roglic's first campaign in the colours of Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe have been a successful one.
