The 2026
national championships have plenty races today and we bring forward a new batch of results. From Spain, Denmark, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria come new winners and a few of them are quite surprising.
Out of these nations, Spain takes the spotlight and after last year the time trial event saw a shock winner in Abel Balderstone, this time around it was the road race that delivered the shock and surprise. The new Spanish national champion is Marcel Camprubí, who succeeded out of the group that ended up having the best timing in the entire race.
The Pinarello - Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team rider, 24 years of age, has taken his first win as a professional rider in Sabiñago in a race that proved to be very tactical. He was the strongest out of a group of five in the final hilly circuit, and dropped fellow ProTeam rivals Joel Nicolau and Urko Berrade to take a breakthrough victory.
Michael Gogl took the victory over in Austria, also taking his first pro win at the age of 32, but bringing in the title to Alpecin - Premier Tech; Whilst in Denmark, it was
Magnus Cort Nielsen who won the road race only days after
announcing his retirement from the sport at the end of this year. He will do so with a special jersey on his shoulders.
In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the traditionally combined race saw two riders defend their titles. In the Czech side of the race
Mathias Vacek took a dominant win over his competitors, assuring his already familiar white jersey into the Tour de France whilst
Lukas Kubis was the winner of the Slovakian race, winning it for the third time in a row.
