AG2R Citroën team rider Nans Peters claimed victory at the Trofeo Laigueglia by launching an attack 29 kilometers before the end and maintaining the lead until the finish line, with Andrea Vendrame finishing second and Alessandro Covi taking the final spot on the podium.
The breakaway was comprised of Dimitri Peyskens, Davide Baldaccini, Andrea Garosio, Filippo Ridolfo, Emanuele Ansaloni, Gabriele Petrelli, Florian Samuel Kajamini, Francesco Galimberti and Matteo Freddi who worked together to build a lead exceeding 3 minutes.
Their lead didn't last as they were caught 70 kilometers before the end. Nans Peters made a move and was able to create a gap of 1 minute and 10 seconds with just 29 kilometers left. Alessandro Covi started chasing him in the final 10 kilometres as several riders rode through the harsh conditions, but without the legs to close the gap.
Nans Peters crossed the finish line first and secured the win. Andrea Vendrame finished second and Alessandro Covi completed the podium from the chasing group making for a one-two for the French team.
