Movistar and Equipo Kern Pharma plan rider swap

It has been reported that Movistar is planning to strike a high-profile swap deal with Equipo Kern Pharma, according to Spanish sports newspaper Marca.

Movistar is particularly interested in Raul Garcia Pierna. The Spaniard competes for Equipo Kern Pharma, but Movistar has been interested in him for quite some time. Movistar manager Eusebio Unzue hopes to acquire the promising Spaniard as soon as possible. This year, Pierna made his first appearance on a Grand Tour, finishing 47th in the Vuelta a Espana. He is the Spanish time trial champion.

Marca reports Movistar is offering Spanish climber Oscar Rodrguez as part of the swap deal. Movistar has been Rodriguez's team since this year; before that, he was with Astana and Euskadi-Murias.

This type of deal within cycling is incredibly rare and is not confirmed. However, as both teams seem to gain from it and the future of the Pro Team has recently been assured, it is very likely that there will soon be moves on the market.
