Milano-Sanremo route in danger after landslide in Malpasso

The original profile of the Milano-Sanremo 2024 is at risk. As reported from ivg.it, a race against the clock has begun to ensure the stability of the Aurelia road in Malpasso, Finale Ligure, following another landslide yesterday, marking the second incident in a few days.

The road was reopened just two days ago after the landslide on Sunday morning, however, yesterday afternoon, following an inspection by Anas, the road had to be closed again due to the presence of debris on the roadway.

This morning, climbers were deployed to ensure the stability of the rock face. A containment net is scheduled to arrive this afternoon and will be installed with the help of a helicopter. It is expected that in the next few hours it will be determined when vehicular traffic will be allowed again.

Technicians are making every effort to ensure the passage of cyclists along the coastal road during Milan-San Remo. However, in the event that the work cannot be completed in time, the Classicissima route will be affected and cyclists could be diverted to the alternative route to Le Manie.
