Miguel Angel Lopez finishes the year with more wins than Jasper Philipsen and Tadej Pogacar despite doping ban

Miguel Angel Lopez, a Colombian cyclist sanctioned for doping by the UCI, is the rider who has won the most races in the year 2023 with a total of 20. Some rankings give him 19 because they do not include the time trial title of the Central American championship which, technically, is an International Cycling Union event. The Medellin-EPM rider finished the year with one more win than Jasper Philipsen and 3 more than Tadej Pogacar;

Obviously, we are not going to compare the level of Lopez's victories with those of the Belgian of Alpecin or the Slovenian of UAE, but the data is there and his name, especially for his 9 accumulated victories in the Vuelta a Colombia, remains for history beyond what may happen with his sanction in the coming days.
