If rumours are to be believed, we now know where Mark Cavendish will start the final campaign of his illustrious career.

According to renowned Italian cycling journalist Ciro Scognamiglio of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Astana Qazaqstan Team sprinter will begin his 2024 season in South America and more specifically in Colombia.

"According to our sources 2024 for Mark Cavendish, Astana Qazaqstan Team will start from Colombia," the report details. "For him and some of his team-mates there will be at least 2 weeks of training camp in altitude in January."

The 38-year-old's main aim will be working towards the Tour de France next year. Cavendish is currently tied with Eddy Merckx for the most Tour de France stage wins in history and after crashing out of last years edition, the 'Manx Missile' opted to prolong his retirement for one final year and one last chance at taking sole ownership of the historic record.
