Luke Plapp seizes control on the second day of Tour of Bright to take home title from his home race

While most of the peloton is slowly emerging from their well-earned weeks of rest, often in the cold, Luke Plapp is taking advantage of the Australian weather to get some racing kilometers in the legs during the winter.

In what will have been one of his very last appearances in the Ineos Grenadiers jersey, the future representative of Team Jayco - AlUla took part in the Tour of Bright, an event on the Australian national calendar.

The 22-year-old's race didn't start as smoothly as it may seem with local teams using their numbers to allow a group of four gain four minutes on Plapp on a hilly lap. However the World Tour left no chance to his opponents on the second day of racing, winning the morning timetrial before taking matters into his own hands on Mount Buffalo, where the nearest competitors lost two and a half minutes (with ex-pro Alexander Evans among them).
