"Luckily I got the right wheel in the end" - Charlotte Kool delighted after taking first Grand Tour stage win of her career

Taking part in her first traditional Grand Tour stage, Charlotte Kool made a perfect start by taking victory on stage 2 of La Vuelta Femenina.

Outsprinting the legendary Marianne Vos for the victory, the 23-year-old Team DSM was understandably delighted by victory. "I am very happy. It's my first win in a Grand Tour, so it's really cool to win straight away in the second stage," she said with a beaming smile in her post-race interview.

"We knew the final was going to be very hectic and it paid off. I almost got boxed in, but luckily I got the right wheel in the end," continues Kool. "It was already tough, because Canyon/SRAM Racing made it a very long sprint."

With tomorrow's stage another one seemingly perfect for the sprinters, is Kool expecting to try her luck yet again? "Wednesday is even flatter, so we're going for it again."
