Louis Meintjes makes glorious return to winning ways at Giro dell'Appennino

It has been over seven years since Louis Meintjes took his last win as a pro rider, as he was coming up the ranks in the World Tour. For many years it seemed as if the South African had lost the ability to take a win, however he has won today's Giro dell'Appennino.

The Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux rider was part of the front group that went over the race's many climbs, but attacked on the flat section towards the end with seven kilometers to go. He quickly built a big gap and took the 12th season for the Belgian team this year. Natnael Tesfatsion and Georg Zimmerman sprinted to complete the podium.
