Lorena Wiebes took a third straight win for Team SD Worx at the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas 2023 in a thrilling finale to stage 3.

A bunch sprint was thought to be virtually impossible to be prevented on stage 3 of the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas. However, with the sprint into Aranda de Duero having some uphill gradients, possibilities of making a meaningful difference into the line were there.

After Lorena Wiebes took victory on stage 1 and crossed the line first on stage 2 before being relegated to third, the Team SD Worx rider was expected to be heavily involved once again.

With 15km to go, seven riders were 50 seconds ahead of the peloton with the Movistar Team's Sheyla Gutiérrez the best-placed of them in the general classification at 3:14.

As the break reached 5km to go that advantage had only dropped to 36 seconds meaning the expected sprint finale was by no means a certainty.

A brilliant effort by the break continued and they held a slim lead of 15 seconds as the went through the flamme rouge.

In a thrilling finale, Wiebes launched a brutal sprint, overtaking the breakaway within a bike length of the line.
