Alpecin-Deceuninck have been the most dominant team in the Vuelta a Espana's sprints. Although having a modest leadout, the lack of top competition has allowed Kaden Groves to win the first two sprints and lead the points classification, however his leadout man Robbe Ghys abandoned the race this morning due to a saddle sore.
"I'm disappointed to have to leave the Vuelta like this. My body had recovered fine after the crash last week, but my saddle soreness doesn't allow me to continue. Today I fly home, Monday I will have surgery," Ghys said. "I was part of a top team, could show myself at the highest level and contribute to the stage wins of our leader Kaden Groves. I thank Alpecin-Deceuninck for this unforgettable experience and wish my teammates good luck in the remainder of this Vuelta."
