Kaden Groves abandons Giro d'Italia ahead of mountains

It comes as no surprise that on the eve of arriving at the Alps the top sprinters begin to abandon the race. Kaden Groves of Alpecin-Deceuninck has taken a stage win in the opening week and has now left the race.

The Australian seemed to struggle yesterday, not surviving the climbs in a day that would suit him. With the race reaching the high mountains tomorrow and the next opportunity for the fast men only on stage 17, Groves has pulled the plug on his debut Giro d'Italia.
