Jumbo-Visma has revealed their squad for Giro d’Italia Donne which begins on June 30.
Marianne Vos will be leading the team in the race.
She has already won the Giro in 2011, 2012, and 2014. Vos will use her experience to fight for as many victories as possible. "I have cycled the Giro many times already, but this year is different from previous years. I have not yet experienced a start in Sardinia and a relocation is also new. In the Giro, you have to be prepared for the unexpected," Vos said ahead of the race. "Perhaps because of the warm weather, the challenging course, and the Italian temperament, but also because the Giro is a multi-day race. The classic riders do everything they can to not lose time, while others go for a stage victory. Every day will be exciting." said Vos.
The ten stages will feature a wide variety of terrains, and several opportunities for the Dutch veteran to fight for stage wins. The overall classification will also be a goal however. She will try to win her fourth Giro and her teammates Karlijn Swinkels, Amber Kraak, Romy Kasper, Anouska Koster, and Riejanne Markus will be providing support.
"We will go for the win in every stage. We will have to adjust the strategy every now and then - sometimes on the way - but we have that flexibility," she concluded.
