Joaquim Silva, César Fonte, Bruno Silva, Ivo Pinheiro, Carlos Salgueiro, Noah Campos, Calum Johnston, André Ribeiro, João Oliveira and Gonçalo Oliveira marked the day's escapee group, but despite it's large size on a flat day, the peloton made quick work to capture them all before the team's began to work towards the final sprint in Tavira.
The group was caught with around 25 kilometers to go, almost at the same time Romain Bardet, one of the main GC contenders, crashed and was forced to abandon the race with a possible concussion after hitting his head in the fall.
The finale was incredibly tense with several roundabouts, downhill sections... As has happened often in 2025, the sprint saw yet another crash (the second sprint crash of the day). The leadout was rather chaotic with Lotto having a leadout man ahead of the sprinters. Jordi Meeus was the fastest in the final sprint, taking the final victory ahead of
Alberto Dainese and
Biniam Girmay in the final sprint.
