Jordi Meeus diagnosed with broken nose and collarbone following crash in sixth stage of Tour de Pologne

Jordi Meeus has some bad news for his fans. The Belgian sprinter will be absent from Vuelta a Espana due to his injuries in the crash in Tour de Pologne.

He broke his nose and his collarbone in a crash during the time trial stage of the Tour of Poland. He crashed and fell on the asphalt. He was taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a broken nose and collarbone.

"There seems to be nothing more to do," his father, Jimmy Meeus, told Het Nieuwsblad. He continues, "Recovering from a collarbone fracture is not so bad if it is operated properly, but the Tour of Spain comes too soon. Hopefully, he can make something of it in the autumn."

His absence from Vuelta a Espana is a major setback for the team as the rider was in good form and even secured silver and bronze in the fourth and fifth stages respectively.
